Sarah Bertha Wilhelmina Hartzell LudekeMina Ludeke, 93, of Mason City, formerly of Clear Lake, died Friday, March 11, 1988, at a Mason City nursing home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at United Methodist Church, 508 Second Avenue N., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Bernard Olson officiating. Burial will be in Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme, Iowa. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third Street N. E., Mason City.
She was born June 13, 1894, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, to George and Lydia (Puls) Hartzell. She lived with her parents on a farm near Britt, Iowa, and attended Britt schools. She later taught school for five years in Hancock County.
On February 28, 1917, she married Ralph Clarence Ludeke in Britt, Iowa. The couple farmed near Klemme and Garner before moving to Clear Lake in 1943.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Rural Lakettes. Survivors include three daughters, June Collins, of Mason City, Doris Dominic, of Clear Lake, and Marilyn Coulter, of Redfield; a son Stanley of Long Prairie, Minn.; a sister, Gladys Van Zanten of Sarasota, Fla.; and 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services for Sarah Bertha Wilhelmina Ludeke were held on Monday, March 14, at the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake, with the Rev. Bernard Olson officiating. The Hogan-Bremer Funeral Home of Mason City was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Ell Township Cemetery at Klemme. She was born on June 13, 1894, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, to George and Lydia (Puls) Hartzell. As a small child she moved with her parents and family to a farm near Britt, Iowa. She received her education in the Britt schools, graduating in the class of 1912. She then taught for five years in the rural schools of Hancock County. On February 28, 1917, she was married to Ralph C. Ludeke and they farmed near Klemme and later Garner, moving to a farm south of Clear Lake in 1943, where they lived until retirement. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, a member of the United Methodist Women of the Clear Lake Church and a member of Rural Lakettes. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Daniel (June) Collins of Mason City; Mrs. Jack (Doris) Dominic, Clear Lake; and Mrs. Eldon (Marilyn) Coulter of Redfield, Iowa; one son, Stanley Ludeke, in Long Prairie, Minn.; one sister, Mrs. Charles (Gladys) VanZanten of Sarasota, Fla.; 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She preceded in death by her four brothers, Clarence, Ben, George and Harry and by two sisters, Mrs. Joe (Grace) Bailey, and Mrs. Lester (Helen) Stille. Pallbearers were Dorance, Morgan and Shawn Ludeke, Lance Coulter, Brian Whitney, Lew Soens and Jerry Raible.
