Funeral Services to Be Saturday at St. Joseph's
Mrs. Walter J. MARTIN, 75, died suddenly at her home, 102 Connecticut S.E., Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. MARTIN was the mother of Mrs. C. M. FRANCHERE, 930 Madison N.W.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 o'clock at St. Joseph's church with Rev. P. J. BEHAN officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery. The Rosary is to be said Thursday and Friday evening at 8 o'clock at the Meyer funeral home where the body is lying in state.
Mrs. MARTIN was born March 9, 1869, at Clifton Springs, N.Y., the daughter of James and Honora SWEENEY. She was married to Walter J. MARTIN on April 20, 1892, at Clifton Springs, and they lived at Newark, N.Y., for several years. In 1910 they came to Mason City, where Mr. MARTIN was a partner with his brother, Thomas, in the Martin Manufacturing company.
Always active in local church and social circles, Mrs. MARTIN was a charter member of the Athenlan club, a member of the Women's club, St. Joseph's Tabernacle society and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving, in addition to Mrs. FRANCHERE, are 3 sons, Walter Jr., Leo and Bernard MARTIN, all of Berkeley, Cal., and 4 grandchildren, Corrine Marr FRANCHERE, a student at the University of Wisconsin, Diane and Mary MARTIN of Berkeley, and Jim MORSE of the United States navy. Mrs. MARTIN was preceded in death by her husband in 1929.
The Meyer funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
