Paul Aden Deverell – August 25, 1954 – December 19, 2010

MASON CITY - Paul Aden Deverell, 56, of Mason City, passed away with his family by his side on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa following a stroke.

A visitation will be held from 5 until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, at St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 Fourth St. S.E., in Mason City.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 23, at the Lutheran Zion Church in Rockford at 10:30 a.m.

Paul was born on Aug. 25,1954, in Rockford, to parents Ralph Deverell and Ruth (Ziebell) Deverell. Upon graduation from Rockford Senior High in 1972, he worked at White Farms Equipment in Charles City while owning the Devl's Den bar in Rockford. From his marriage to Michelle (Marzen) Deverell three children were born: Jessica, Jarod, and Joshua.

He worked at Schwan's Sales Enterprises for six years in Hiawatha, Kan., and St. Joseph, Mo. He then returned with his family to Iowa to work for Curries Manufacturing where he currently had over 22 years of service.

Paul enjoyed golf, bowling, softball, puzzles, woodworking and playing the card game Rummy with family. He was a dedicated Packers and Yankees fan, a passion which he shared with his sons. He enjoyed spending time outside at his house in the country and watching his children participate in their respective high school sports. He valued hard work and spent a lot of time helping farmers he knew. Those who knew and loved him will deeply miss his goofy sense of humor.

Left to cherish his memory and celebrate his life are his children: Jessica (Christopher) Ward of Ames, Jarod Deverell of Iowa City, and Joshua Deverell of Mason City; siblings Dave of Waynesboro, Pa., Cliff of Vermillion, S.D., Ann (Mike) Boltz of Circleville, Kan., and Alan of Salina, Kan.; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Deverell, and mother Ruth Deverell-Horkman.
It was Paul's wish that memorial contributions be made to Bremwood Lutheran Children's Home in Waverly, Iowa.
