dies after
short illness

James M. Tatum, 70, 115 10th SW, died Wednesday* evening at a Mason City hospital following a short illness.

Funeral arragements are incomplete at the Patterson-James Funeral Home. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Tatum, a semi-retired carpenter was born March 24, 1890, the son of Humphrey Tatum and Elizabeth Kossack. He was married Feb. 14, 1911 to Anna Marie Behrens in Mason City. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and Carpenter's Local 1313 in Mason City. He was a lifelong resident of Mason City.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother, a sister.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Merle, James and Donald all of Mason City; two daughters, Mrs. Elvis (Vivian)Faught, Mason City, Mrs.Leonard (Carol)Kollman, Marshalltown, and a sister Mrs. Arnold (Lucille) Corell,Nora Springs.
