Earl F. COLE, 74, of 713 N. Carolina Place, died Saturday (Jan. 27, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice In-Patient Unit.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams Ave., with the Rev. Raymond A. BURKLE officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, where full military honors will be conducted by members of the Mason City Veteran's Memorial Association.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., where a scriptural wake service will be held at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa in memory of Mr. COLE.

Earl Francis COLE was born Aug. 16, 1921, at Waterville, a son of Carl and Rosalia (GERKEY) KOHL. He married Mildred C. SCHOOL on May 3, 1950, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Mason City.

Mr. COLE was a graduate of Decorah High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in the Philippines. He fought in battles on Leyete Island, Bataan Island, Luzon Island, Zambales Island and Corregidor Island. Following his discharge, he moved to Seattle, Wash., where he lived for a short time. He then lived in Decorah before moving to Mason City in 1948.

Mr. COLE worked at Armco Steel Co., Mason City, for several years. He retired from Associated Milk Producers, Inc., in 1984, after working there 27 years.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and gardening. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred COLE, Mason City; three sons, Pat COLE and his wife, Marie, Mason City, Frank COLE and his wife, Marcie, Albert Lea, Minn., and Gary Cole and his wife, Dianne, Rockford; nine grandchildren, Michael COLE, Jason COLE, Jim COLE, Sarah COLE, Scott COLE, Heather COLE, Douglas COLE, Chelsea COLE and Samantha COLE; and one sister, Coletta VICK, Decorah.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Corrine QUEEL; and one brother, Jim COLE.
