MASON CITY – Winifred Ellen (BOGARDUS) DWAN, 91, of 302 Second St. N.E., died Thursday (January 14, 2010) at Good Shepherd Health Center, Mason City.

A funeral mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Michael SCHUELLER officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, with a scriptural wake service at 6 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to the Good Shepherd Health Care Center, 302 Second St. N.E., Mason City, IA 50401.

Winifred was born Feb. 6, 1918, in Mason City, the daughter of Raymond and Emma (CONAWAY) BOGARDUS. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1937. Winifred was united in marriage to George DWAN; to this union four children were born. She was a homemaker while raising her children and later worked for Damons, JC Pennys and Tempo as a sales clerk. Winifred was a seamstress for several years at Risto Inc., working there until her retirement.

Winifred enjoyed sewing, playing cards, crossword puzzles, spending time with her family and friends, traveling with her oldest daughter and collecting elves. She is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the St. Gregory Circle. She also enjoyed a strong faith and prayer life.

Winifred is survived by her children, John (Di) DWAN, Clarkdale, Ariz., Dorothy SELZER, Waukesha, Wis., Thomas (Lynn) DWAN, Mason City, Mary Ellen RATAJESAK, Ogden, Utah; grandchildren Lori, Sharlene, Jim, Carol, Connie, John, Cathy, Michael, Sharri, Deb and Matthew; along with several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband George DWAN; son-in-law Lloyd SELZER; and siblings Mary Jane, Betty, Margaret, and her twin sister, Buena.
