Carl Eugene Brandt

MASON CITY,IA--Carl Eugene BRANT, 69, of Mason City, died Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Heritage Care Center, Mason City.

Carl Eugene BRANT was born on September 14, 1942 to Thomas and Lillian (ALLISON) BRANT, in Muncie, Indiana. He was raised in Muncie and attended high school in DeSoto, IN. He enlisted in the Army in 1960 following his graduation. Following his honorable discharge three years later, he worked for Marhoefer Meat Packing Plant in 1978 until they went out of business. He was united in marriage to Jorinda (SWIFT) and to this union, three children were born: Sherry, Steve, and Scott. The family relocated to Mason City, where he was a supervisor at Armour meat packing plant up to his retirement. He resided in Mason City until he passed away.

Carl enjoyed the Chicago Cubs and Bears and loved Indiana basketball.

He will be missed by is wife, Jorinda BRANT, Mason City; sons, Steve (Michelle) BRANT, Mason City, and Scott (Becky) BRANT, San Antonio, TX; eight grandchilren, Michael WETHERHOLT, Matthew and Michelle GONZALEZ, and Emily, Mikayla, Carter, Alexus, and Madison BRANT; one great-grandchild on the way; three brothers, Lee BRANT, Muncie, IN, David BRANT, Rockville, IN, and Bill BRANT, Seymour, IN; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sherry; and many brothers and sisters.

A funeral service for Carl will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 30, 2012 at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City, Iowa, with Pastor Steve HANSEN from Grace and Wesley United Methodist Church in Mason City, officiating. Burial will be held at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City, Iowa, and one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
