November 16, 1996ROCKWELL Roy William JANSSEN, 73, 8847 Thrush Ave., died Thursday (Nov. 14, 199 6) at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Ernest THOMPSON officiating. Burial will be in the Rockwell Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by t he Rockwell American Legion.
There will be no visitation. Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa or Mercy Cancer Center.
Roy was born on Feb. 2, 1923, in Glidden, the son of William and Recka (PRILL) JANSSEN.
Roy married Flora ANDERSON of Mason City on Dec. 11, 1945, in Garner. They worked side by side for over 50 years.
Roy graduated from Glidden High School in 1940.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army attaining the rank of Tech. Sergeant. Roy was a member of the Rockwell American Legion and St. Peter Lutheran Church. Roy was a lifetime farmer and greatly enjoyed being a shepherd of livestock and steward of the soil. Many hours were spent, before and after retirement, renovating antique farm machinery.
His memory will be cherished by his wife, companion and friend, Flora; son, Gary JANSSEN and his wife, Mary Beth, of Emporia, Kan.; son, Captain (Dr.) Jay JANSSEN and his wife, Janet, of Fort Leavenworth, Kan.; and daughter, Janna BRAM and her husband, Doug, of Huxley.
His terrific grandchildren are Jason A. JANSSEN and wife, Crystal; Jennifer NUEHRING and her husband, Dan; Jamie, Jason William and Jenna JANSSEN; Lewis Roy BRAM and his wife, Christy; and Annie Kay BRAM. He also had many special nieces and nephews. Other dear family members are brother, Merle JANSSEN and his wife, Joan, of Goodell; sister, Leona GIVENS and husband, Paul, of Temple Terrace, Fla.; sister, Faye IRELAN and her husband, Wayne, of Fort Collins, Colo.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lester NUEHRING, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin ANDERSON and Ellen ANDERSON, all of Mason City, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry ANDERSON of Osage.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, William and Recka JANSSEN; father and mother-in-law, Henry and Tina ANDERSON; and brother-in-law, Emerson ANDERSON.
