Obituary - Marian Lorraine (Scholl) McIlrath
MASON CITY, IA — Marian L. McILRATH, 85, of Mason City died Sunday, July 17, 2011, at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 21, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mason City, with the Rev. Craig E. STEIMEL as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Rockwell.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening,July 20, from 5-7 p.m. at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, where the Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.
Should friends desire, memorials may be left in Marian's name in care of her family.
Marian Lorraine SCHOLL was born on Dec. 22, 1925, in Rockwell, the daughter of William and Ida (NIELSON) SCHOLL. She was one of nine children and the only daughter born unto her parents. She grew up in Rockwell and attended Rockwell High School. On Jan. 10, 1942, Marian was united in marriage to Raymond Arthur McILRATH; this union would be blessed with three sons.
For many years Marian worked at the State Brand Creamery in Mason City, which would later become AMPI. She also would work for many years at Risto in Mason City.
Sewing was a passion of Marian's. She was an accomplished seamstress and would often sew beautiful outfits for her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially 500 and pinochle, cooking, gardening, bird watching and traveling. In her earlier years Marian was a talented bowler and enjoyed bowling league for many years.
Marian was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mason City.
Those grateful in sharing in Marian's life are her children, Larry (Amy) McILRATH, Mason City; Jim (Angie) McILRATH, Groton, Conn.; and Rick (Sherry) McILRATH, Goldfield; her grandchildren, Jeffrey McILRATH, Joseph McILRATH, Tracy (Roger) HENNIGAR, Dawn (Bruce) WASENIUS, Christine McILRATH, Jim McILRATH, Jr., Autumn McILRATH, Rick McILRATH, Jr. and Sean McILRATH; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her brother, Raymond (Peg) SCHOLL, Mason City; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Marian in death are her parents, her husband and seven brothers.
