Obituary - Donald Maynard Carolus
September 11, 1932 - July 16, 2011Donald Maynard CAROLUS, 78, of 511 N. Van Buren, Mason City, Iowa died Saturday July 16, 2011 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday July 19, 2011 at the Grace Evangelical Free Church, Mason City, Iowa with Pastor Nick DAUGHERTY officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, Mason City and then one hour before the service on Tuesday at the church. Family suggests memorials to Donald M. Carolus memorial fund.
Donald was born Sept. 11, 1932 in Britt, Iowa the son of Ralph and Emma (LASSAHAN) CAROLUS. He grew up in the north Iowa area. He worked for Home Insulation and later started his own business known as CAROLUS Contracting. He helped his children and grandchildren start their own contracting business. He married Jean PEASLEY Feb. 16, 1980 in Casper, Wyoming.
He enjoyed traveling, going out west hunting, telling jokes and keeping busy. He was known for his amazing memory.
He was a member of Grace Evangelical Free Church, Mason City, Iowa.
Donald is survived by his wife Jean CAROLUS, Mason City, Iowa; four children Jerry PEASLEY, Mason City, Iowa, Sheila CALLOW and her husband Ron Sr., Clear Lake, Iowa, Sharon PEASLEY and her husband Mike BURNS, Hines, Minnesota and Rozanna THEISEN and her husband Michael, Blackduck, Minnesota; twenty grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; twin brothers Merlin CAROLUS and his wife Marilyn, Harlingen, Texas and Merwin CAROLUS and his wife Ardie, Mason City, Iowa and a sister Lorraine BARTLESON, Clear Lake, Iowa; sister-in-law Shirley CAROLOUS, Buckeye, Iowa, and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Clarence and Ralph CAROLUS and his wife Betty; brother-in-law Ben BARTLESON.
