Obituary - Mildred (Ryan) Burdette

CLEAR LAKE, IA ~ Mildred R. BURDETTE, 105, of Clear Lake died Wednesday July 6, 2011 at Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake, IA. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday July 9, 2011 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1001 9th Ave South, Clear Lake with Rev. John R. TILP officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 5-7 Pm, with a Scriptural Wake Service at 6:30 PM at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 North 4th St, Clear Lake and then one hour before the service on Saturday at the church.

Graveside services will be 10:30 AM Saturday July 16th at the Green Acres Cemetery, Scottsdale, AZ. Family suggests memorials to St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Hawkeye harvest Food Bank, Hospice of North Iowa or the charity of your choice. In Arizona, donations can be made to St. vincent DePaul or Seton Catholic High School Capital Campaign Fund.

Mildred was born March 20, 1906, in Wheaton, Illinois, the daughter of Eugene & Mary (BENNETT) RYAN. She attended school in Wheaton and graduated from Rosary High School in 1923. After graduation Mildred became a beautician until she married Forrest "Abe" BURDETTE, May 4, 1935 in Wheaton. They lived in Wheaton until 1950 when they moved to Canton, Missouri where they farmed until 1959. They then moved to Mesa, Arizona where she worked as a nursing assistant at Southside District Hospital until she retired. In the summer of 1991 Mildred moved to Clear Lake to be closer to her daughter.

Mildred enjoyed sewing and visiting with family and friends. She was known as a great cook and believed that you always have to have deserts. She was the oldest member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Clear Lake.

Mildred is survived by her daughter Marcia (Mark) McNULTY, Clear Lake; Greg BURDETTE, Enumclaw, WA. and his fiancé Jenny DENISON; five grandchildren, Maureen (Scott) DOCKSTADER, Ames, IA; Michael (Lisa) McNULTY, Zimmerman, MN; Monica (Jeff) GRIBBEN, Mason City, IA; Matthew (Theresa) McNULTY, Polk City, IA and Mitchell (Melissa) McNULtY, Ankeny, IA ; and fifteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
