Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Oakland officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. There is no visitation.
Clarence R. Pearson was born May 7, 1913 in Chicago, Illinois to Oscar and Agnes Pearson. Within the next two years, the family moved to Bigfork, Minnesota where Russ graduated from high school. After two years at Itasca Junior College, he attended the University of Minnesota and graduated as a civil engineer. He moved to Mason City in 1937, where he accepted a position with the Mason City Brick and Tile Company. During the 42 years he worked for the Brick and Tile Company, he served in many capacities, first in sales and management, the moving to Des Moines in 1969, where he was in charge of Production of the eight plants in the area. He lived in Des Moines for eight years and then returned to Mason City.
Mr. Pearson married Vivian Marie Everts on February 25, 1938 at Albert Lea, Minnesota. From 1942 to 1945, he served in the Navy Seabees in the South Pacific Theatre as a lieutenant commander. Upon discharge he returned to Mason City, where he returned to working with the Mason City Brick and Tile Company until he was ready to retire. He was asked to stay on for 1-1/2 years to be in charge of the demolition of the brick and tile plants and sale of the property.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Exchange Club, the board of the Salvation Army, Master Builders of Iowa and Registered Professional Engineering Society. Mr. Pearson was a 50 years Mason, past president of High Twelve Club and a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Elks Club, Retired Officers Naval Reserve Association, the American Legion and the VFW.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Patricia Ann Pearson in July of 1988.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian Marie Pearson of Mason City, Iowa; one daughter, Karen and her husband James Daman of Bemidji, Minnesota; 1 granddaughter, Dr. Sarah Israelson of Duluth, Minnesota; 4 grandsons, Hearst Daman of Lusby, Maryland, Paul, Ted, and Tom Daman, all of Bemidji, Minnesota; 1 brother, Ronald Pearson of Coleraine, Minnesota; and 2 sisters, Doris (Lyle) Coolen of Bigfork, Minnesota and Rose (Moors) Anderson of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
