Obituary - Robert Norman "Norm" Anderson

Robert Norman ANDERSON, 85, of Ventura died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001 at the Heritage Care Center, Mason City. The funeral was held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Faith Lutheran Church in Miller, Iowa with the Rev. Owen GAASEDELEN officiating. Music was provided by organist Gail REESE who accompanied soloist Warren TORKELSON and congregational hymns. Ushers were Ted HALL and Ross ANDERSON. Honorary bearers were Norm's grandchildren. Pall bearers were Ron ANDERSON, Jerry ANDERSON, Roger FURNESS, Garrett GREIMAN, Dale ANDERSON and Carl ANDERSON. Interment will be in the spring at Ellington Prairie Cemetery. Cataldo Funeral Home, Garner was in charge of arrangements.

Robert Norman ANDERSON, the son of Elmer and Bertha (HALL) ANDERSON, was born June 15, 1915 on the Anderson farm near Ventura. He was baptized and confirmed at Ellington Prairie Lutheran Church. Norm graduated from Ventura High School in 1933 and attended Waldorf College. In December of 1941, he enlisted in the Air Force where he was a Link Trainer Instructor teaching instrument flying. During his Air Force years he was stationed in Texas, Maine, Virginia, South Carolina and Kansas. After returning home from the service, he worked for the Northern Natural Gas Company.

On Aug. 29, 1942 he married Dorothy GREIMANN at Peace Reformed Church south of Garner. He farmed the Anderson farm northwest of Ventura from 1947 to 1997 when he retired.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and served on the church council. Normıs past-times were hunting, fishing and attending school activities in which his children and grandchildren participated. He enjoyed farming and raising cattle.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Ventura; six children, Carolyn LUSCOMB and her husband, David, of Clear Lake and their three children, Brett, Jody and Andrew and his wife, Rachael, Robert ANDERSON, Jr. and his wife, Maria, of Forest City and their five children, Christina, Robert III, Alan, Ryan and Aaron, Jacqueline MATHEWSON and her husband, Robert, of Littleton, Colo. and their two children, Brian and Kimberly, Thomas ANDERSON and his wife, Kathy, of Tempe, Az. and their four children, Eric, Karis, Justin and Mark, Jill Schultz and her husband, Steven, of Coralville, Iowa and their son, Jonathan and Gregory ANDERSON and his wife, Julie of Edina, Minn. and their three children, Scott, Katherine and Margaret; a sister, Carrie GREIMAN and her husband, Bernard, of Garner; and two sisters-in-law, Vivian ANDERSON of Ventura and Eva HALL of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Lester, Earl and Burt ANDERSON and two granddaughters, Allison and Emily ANDERSON.
