Janiece was born April 19, 1937 at the family farm three miles north of Latimer to Earl and Dorothy (MUHLENBRUCK) RASMUSSEN. She was baptized May 9, 1937 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Latimer. Janiece lived in several different houses in north Iowa as a child, and spent many happy hours playing with her aunt Elaine. She attended country school with her future husband, Leo, and they both belonged to the same church since 1950. Janiece was confirmed in 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton.

Janiece and Leo were married on June 11, 1961 by Rev. John MOLSTAD Sr. at Richland Lutheran Church in Thornton. She gave birth to Lisa in 1967 and Brad in 1969. She was very proud of her children and their accomplishments. Janiece and Leo lived west of Sheffield on two different farms until they moved to town in 1999.

Janiece attended Wartburg College in Waverly. She began working in the Franklin County Treasurer’s Office in 1957. She transferred into the Auditor's office and worked there until her children were born. Janiece then became a stay at home mom and devoted mother. She returned to work full time in 1987 at the Assessor’s Office and retired in 2002.

Janiece's retirement years were spent in a very active life with Leo. She enjoyed visiting her children and grandchildren. She loved watching her grandchildren play volleyball and golf. She was a very faithful caregiver to her mother while Dorothy was living. Janiece and Leo spent time during the winter months in Scottsdale, Arizona, where they would attend Chicago Cubs spring training games.

Janiece would host family gatherings after her mother became too ill to do so. She was very involved in the lives of her nieces and nephews. Janiece was interested in geneology and records of births and deaths in the family. She enjoyed playing cards and gardening and was proud of her Danish heritage. Janiece was a very meticulous person, was very knowledgeable and had a great memory. If anyone had a question about family or friends, they would ask her.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 49 years, Leo; daughter: Lisa (Fred) WOOD, Wake Forest, North Carolina and their children; Alexa and Jackson WOOD; son: Brad of West Des Moines; sisters Sue (Bob) RUBE and Kathy (Dale) BRAYTON, both of Sheffield, brother-in-law: Duane RENBERG; sisters-in-law Delores VOSBURGH and Janice (Roger) FEKKERS; aunts Lydia MUHLENBRUCK, Marian MUHLENBRUCK and Elaine NAGEL and numerous nieces and nephews.
