Veryl L. CARR, 82, of 20386 Eagle Ave, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 13, at the Clear Lake Christian (Disciples of Christ) Church, 302 Hwy 18 West, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Scott WILSON officiating. Inurnment will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 North 4th Street, Clear Lake. Memorials may be directed to the Veryl L. CARR Memorial Fund.

Veryl L. CARR was born Sept. 1, 1925, in Clear Lake, the son of Ernest and Margaret (BUHRER) CARR. He graduated from Ventura High School in 1946. Veryl began farming with his father in the Clear Lake area. He was united in marriage to Shirley BOYD on March 15, 1953, in Mason City. To this union four children were born.

Veryl worked for the International Mineral and Chemical Company and American Crystal Sugar Company, before working at E.M. DUESENBURG Road Construction and other various contractors. He retired in 1985.

Veryl enjoyed reading, traveling and raising cattle. His greatest love was spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Clear Lake Christian Church and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 234, Des Moines, Iowa.

Veryl is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley CARR, Clear Lake; children, Donna CARR and special friend, Gary HALL, Garner, Iowa, Robert CARR, Clear Lake, Diane (Ryan) HOVE, Eagan, Minn.; grandchildren, Katie, Rebecca and Zachary HOVE, Eagan, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Margaret CARR; a son, Russell CARR; sister, Genevieve YOUNGERMAN; and brother, Claire CARR.
