MASON CITY — Helen F. MARTIN, 89, of Mason City died Monday, May 9, 2011, at Heritage Care Center in Mason City.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 13, at First Covenant Church, Highway 122 at South Ohio Avenue, with the Rev. Tammy SWANSON-DRAHEIM officiating. Inurnment will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Memorials may be directed to Opportunity Village, 1200 N. Ninth St. W., Clear Lake, IA 50428.

Helen F. MARTIN was born June 30, 1921, in Blue Earth, Minn., the daughter of Lee and Elsie (SHAW) ARGANBRIGHT. She graduated from High School. She was married to Clement L. "Red" MARTIN on June 8, 1939, in Graettinger. She was a lifelong Mason City resident.

Helen worked for Gordon's Jewelry for 30 years in sales. In Helen's free time she enjoyed exercising and staying fit, golfing and traveling in her earlier years, and also enjoyed reading. Helen liked going to the movies with her daughter, Lisa. She loved the time she spent with her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Jeri SKRAM and husband Stephen of Des Moines, Deborah DUNN and husband Jim of Waterloo, Kim BENDICKSON and husband Rick of Mason City, Lisa MARTIN of Clear Lake; son, Thomas L. MARTIN and wife Sandy of Montrose, Colo.; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ione FLEMING and Joan BAKER.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Clement L. "Red" MARTIN in 1979.
