Old Settler Passes.

A pioneer of Bath township an nighly respected citizen of the community in which he lived, was called in the death of Owen McDONOUGH, which occurred at his home on Tuesday morning October 26th [1920], aged about 80 years.

Mr. McDONOUGH was born in County Mayo, Ireland, where he grew to manhood, and was married to Miss Honor CLARK in 1862.

He came to this country in 1865 and settleed at Belvidere, Illinois, and came to Iowa in 1970 and settled at Ackley, Iowa, and in 1873 came with his family to Cerro Gordo county where he has since made his home.

He leaves to mourn his passing two sons and four daughters, his wife and four children having preceded him. The sons are: Michael, with whom he made his home, and Edward of Denver. The daughters are: Mrs. Thos. DALY of Sanborn, Minn., and mrs. Hart HARMON, Mrs. Clayton PAUL and Miss Mary, all of Los Angeles, California.

Mr. McDONOUGH was a staunch member of the Catholic church. He believed what the church teaches with all his heart and put it in practice and served God through all the years of his life and was willing to go.

The funeral was held at Sacred Heart church Thursday morning, Oct. 28th, Rev. Father HARTIGAN officiating. Interment was made in Sacred Heart cemetery.

Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Thos. DALY and Master Edward, of Sanborn, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Thomas COLLINS, of Blue Earth, Minn., Mrs. FOSTER, of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. M. J. COLLINS, Mrs. John JOHNSON, Mr. and Mrs. John CARROLL, Mr. and Mrs. Matt CARROLL and Miss Gertrude CONNORS, of Mason City; Joseph and Miss Margaret PENDERS of Oskaloosa; Mr. and Mrs. Walter MULLEN, of Ardale; and Mrs. W. C. NIXT, of Greene.
