THE OLD JANITOR TO LONG HOME.

ROCKWELL, Ia., April 15. -- (Special) -- Karl Ludwig August KLAVINE, who was born on the 29th of January, 1847, in Siedtkow, Germany, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. G. ZIEGLER, Tuesday Morning, April 8, 1913. While in Germany he enlisted in the army and distinguished himself by his faithfulness and bravery, and in saving a superior officer he received a severe wound.

He came to America in 1893, and two years later became the janitor of the public school, which position he held until his death. In everything he was faithful and conscientious, working hard from morning until night. The Rockwell school never has, or never will have, a more faithful janitor than he.

Two generations of children have gone to school while he was in service, and he knew they all by name.

Death, which came on his 43d wedding anniversary, was the result of pneumonia and a weak heart.

The funeral was helt at St. Peters Lutheran church Thursday afternoon, the public school being dismissed. The floral offerings were very beautiful and many in number.

The public school was closed Thursday forenoon so that the pupils and teachers could attend the funeral of the janitor, K. KLAVINE.

NOTE: Karl KLAVIN and Amelia SCHEUTTPELZ were married in Germany on April 8, 1870. She died at the age of 79 years, September 14, 1932, Rockwell.
