Darrell HEAFORD, 54, of Traer, died Saturday, October 19, 1996 at the Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, of an apparent heart attack.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dysart, with the Rev. Edward BASTEDO officiating. Burial will be in the Buckingham Cemetery, Traer. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Overton Funeral Home.

Darrell Charles HEAFORD was born March 26, 1942, at Rockwell, the son of Oscar Carl and Johanna (KOENEN) HEAFORD.

He attended school at Rockwell and graduated from Rockwell-Swalesdale High school.

Darrell was drafted into the U.S. Army and served his country in the Vietnam War. After his discharge, he worked for a finance company in Mason City and the Omaha area.

On June 8, 1970, Darrell was united in marriage to Susan STRUNK, in Cedar Falls. They made their home in Iowa City and later Sigourney where he worked as a banker until 1975 when they moved to Traer.

Darrell and Susan later divorced and he continued his employment with the First Community Bank.

Darrell was currently serving as vice president of the Homeland Bank in the Traer office. Darrell had served as a volunteer for the Traer Ambulance Service and was currently serving as Secretary-Treasurer of the Sunrise Hill Car Center Board of Directors.

He is survived by two sons, Christian and his wife, Brooke HEAFORD of West Battle Lake, MN., and Andrew HEAFORD of Storrs,Conneticut; two daughters, Amy (Mrs. David) CAREY of Cedar Rapids, and Elizabeth HEAFORD of Redding, Conneticut; his mother, Johanna HEAFORD of Rockwell; one brother, Bill HEAFORD of Dysart; one sister, Elaine (Mrs. Dallas) ABRAMS of LaMesa, California; one grandchild, Boston HEAFORD; and a special friend, Carol WELSH of Traer.

He was preceded in death by his father.
