November 13, 1903 – March 31, 1989

Mason City, IA – Rudolph A. “Rudy” Popp, 85, of 1221 N. Virginia Ave., died Friday, March 31, 1989 at the Good Shepherd Care Center, Mason City, of natural causes.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 722, N. Adams, with the Rev. Joseph J. Slepicka officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be after 4 PM today at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third ST. NE, where there will be a rosary at 7:30 PM today. Memorials may be given to the Rudolph A “Rudy” Popp Memorial Fund.

He was born on November 13, 1903, in Plymouth, a son of John and Katherine (Fitzl) Popp. He attended country schools in Cerro Gordo and Mitchell counties.

He married Mary Ann Ahmann on January 7, 1933 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Mason City.

Following their marriage, he worked at J.E. Deckers and Son Packing Company. He later worked for the municipal airport in Mason City until his retirement in 1969. After his retirement he worked at Blackmore Nursery for several years. He enjoyed gardening and fishing.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann, Mason City; two daughters, Margaret Gotz, Ankeny, and Mrs. Ron (Ann) Felker, Lenexa, KS; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Josie Stangler, Manly, Anna Weaverling and Kathryn Kollmann, both of Osage, and Bertha Wofford, Mesa, AZ; and two brothers, Edward Popp, Mason City, and David Popp, Nekoosa, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, five brothers and two sisters.
