October, 1974CLEAR LAKE -- Mrs. Glenn (Marion) BECK, 76, of Clear Lake passed away Friday night, Oct. 11, 1974, in a local hospital.
Mrs. BECK was born near New Hampton, Iowa, on Oct. 17, 1897, a daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Orson POTTER. She came to South Dakota with her father and brother in 1913 to a frame at Winifred. She married Glenn BECK Nov. 29, 1916 at Madison, S.D. She and her husband lived on a farm at Winifred (sic, should be Winfred) [South Dakota] for a time. Her husband then worked for a utility company and they lived at several places in a three state area until 1940 when they moved to Colman and in 1946 they came to Clear Lake.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Royal Neighbors.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn; two sons, Dale, White Sulphur Springs, Mont., and Vernon, Madison, S.D.; three daughters, Mrs. Fred (Eleanor) HEISMEYER, Estelling, S.D.; Mrs. Lloyd (Iris) COOLEY, Seattle, Wash.; and Mrs. Alfred (Sharon) ANDERSON, Hill City, S.D.; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son and one brother.
Funeral serives were held Monday, October 14, 1974 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake with Rev. Richard SALMONSON officiating. Vocal selections "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou Art" were sung by Mr. Berwyn CRUME accompanied by Mrs. Myron GAUGER at the organ. Graveside services were held at Winifred, S.D. at 2:00 p.m. Casketbearers were grandson, Gerald HEISMEYER, Mike, Allen, Kenneth, Randy and Rodney BECK.
The Eng Funeral Home of Clear Lake was in charge of arrangements.
