Mrs. Severt Evans' Rites Held at Zion Lutheran Church

CLEAR LAKE - Funeral services for Mrs. Severt EVANS, 74, who died Friday [December 8, 1944] at her home near Burchinal, were held at the Zion Lutheran church Monday afternoon with the Rev. Ruben Mostrom, pastor, in charge. Ward's funeral home made the arrangements and burial was in Clear Lake cemetery. A prayer service at the home preceded the church service.

The Rev. O. M. SEVERSKIKE, Belmond, pastor of St. Olaf's church of which Mrs. EVANS was a member 41 years, brought messages from his church to the relatives here. Memorial gifts amounting to more than $150 were received. Waldorf college, Forest City, from which all 8 of the EVANS children have been graduated, received a number of the gifts and other purposes.

Relatives and friends were present from Belmond, Clarion, Kanawha, Forest City, Garner and Mason City. Friends and neighbors in Burchinal and Clear Lake served lunch in the church parlors after the funeral to those from a distance.

Pallbearers were Claus and Alfred CARSTENS, Carl BARTLETT, Walter CONN, E. ROSBERG and W. E. NELSON. Mmes. Alfred CARSTENS, BARTLETT and ROSBERG arranged the flowers.

Glen and Irvin ERICKSON sang "Be Still and Know." Torger FROILAND sand "The Great White HOST' and the 3 sang "Abide With Me." Mrs. Irving R. MORGAN accompanied at the organ.

NOTE: Atlanta (Mikkelsen) Evans was born May 19, 1870 aboard the ship Protector when her parents Haldor and Sigrid (HAAGENSDATTER) MIKKELSEN were immigrating from Stavanger, Norway, to Liverpool, England, then across the Atlantic Ocean. They arrived June 16, 1870 at Quebec, Canada. Atlanta and Servert EVANS were married 1898 in Illinois. Servet was born in Sjernaroy, Norway, April 16, 1870, arrived in America in 1890 aboard the ship SS Bothnia, and died at the age 86 years, February 18, 1957, Rockwell, Iowa.
