September 24, 1998MASON CITY -- Sarah V. AAMODT, 87, of 418 S. Polk Place, died Sunday (Sept. 20, 1998) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Arne BERGLAND officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation was held Wednesday at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. There will be additional visitation one hour prior to services today at the church.
Memorials may be given to the Sarah V. AAMODT Memorial Fund.
Sarha was born Jan. 1, 1911, in Ventura, the daughter of Hugh Michael and Mary Nell (BLAKNEY) JONES. She attended schools in Burchinal and Garner.
Sarah married Joe Aslak AAMODT on Dec. 22, 1928, at the Trinity Lutheran parsonage by the late Rev. Oliver L. N. WIGDALL. Sarah worked at Marshall and Swift for 42 years in the alternation department.
She was past president of the Marshall and Swift Union, volunteered at Mercy Hospital and was a 70-year member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Sarah is survived by two daughters, Ivedene PATTEN of Cedar Rapids; and Verla KEELING, of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Connet PATTEN, Tom PATTEN, Mike PATTEN, Joey KEELING, Tim PATTEN, Dan PATTEN and Kevin KEELING; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert L. JONES of Mason City and Martin D. JONES of Dows; two sisters, Martha PAULSON of Clear Lake and Mary Ellen COLLINS of Mason City; and many nieces and nephews.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; husband [September 21, 1990]; triplets, two daughters and one son; two grandchildren; four brothers, Hugh, William, Charles and Jim; and one sister, Florence JONES McCORMICK.
