Alva Miller Died February 21
Alva E. MILLER, 80, a retired employee of the State of Iowa and a resident of St. Charles, died Tuesday, February 21, 1978, at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. He was born January 15, 1896, in Madison County, the son of Elias Grant and JoAnna WAGNER MILLER.
Educated in the rural county school, Mr. MILLER was a graduate of St. Charles High School. He married Rachel BISHOP on February 13, 1918, in Hanley, Iowa. The couple had three children.
Mr. MILLER was affiliated with the United Methodist Church of St. Charles.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel, of St. Charles; two daughters, Dorothy HARRISON of Des Moines and Virginia LEASURE of Des Moines; a son, Max MILLER of Des Moines; ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Susan HOGUE of Perus, Iowa, and Retta LATHRUN of Des Moines.
Mr. MILLER was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Albert, and four sisters, Elda, Etta, Lizzie and Daisy.
Funeral services for Alva MILLER were conducted Friday, Feb. 24, at 11 a.m. from the United Methodist Church of St. Charles, Rev. Rolland TOWELL of St. Charles oficiating. Burial at St. Charles cemetery.
