May 8, 1937Funeral Is Planned for JAMES JONES, 71
Clear Lake -- Funeral services for James JONES, 71, who died suddenly Friday morning [May 7, 1937] while at work for Sam KENNEDY, will be held at the home, 1030 South Fourth street, Sunday morning at 10 o'clock with the Rev. B. W. RINER conducting the rites.
Following this service the funeral party will drive to rural church at Cottonwood cemetery, near Lake City, where services will be held at 3:30 o'clock. Burial will be in Cottonwood cemetery. The Rev. Mr. RINER will conduct the latter service also.
Mr. JONES is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Frank CLARK, and a son, Harold JONES, at home, and other relatives.
Ward's funeral home is in charge.

Body Taken to Cottonwood Cemetery Near Lake City
Clear Lake -- Funeral services for James JONES, 71, who died suddenly Friday [May 7, 1937] while at work for Sam KENNEDY, were held at the home, 1030 South Fourth street, Sunday morning at 10 o'clock, with the Rev. B. W. RINER conducting the rites.O. J. KING sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and pallbearers were Sherman HANNA, Charles SCHMOLL, Peter AXELSON, Sam KENNEDY, Lar FLOM and John JORGENS.
Following the service at Clear Lake the funeral party drove to a rural church at Cottonwood cemetery, near Lake City, where the Rev. J. B. WALKER of Lake City officiate and burial was in the Cottonwood cemetery. Ward's funeral home made the arrangements.
James JONES, son of Riley and Elmira JONES, was born April 27, 1866 at Lisbon, in Linn county. At the age of 14 he moved to Sac county and lived manyyears in Sac and Calhoun counties, moving to Clear Lake nine years ago.
On Feb. 18, 1890, he was married to Miss Rhoda FICKLE and to them 12 children were born, four of whom have preceded him in death. Besides his widow, Mr. JONES is survived by four daughters, Pearl of Clear lake, Ruby of Auburn, Ida of Sac City and Ruth of Ponsford, Minn.; four sons, Earl of Rockwell City, Ralph of Jefferson, Charlies of Dayton, N. Dak., and Harold of Clear Lake.
Died Suddenly.
Other relatives are five brothers, Manford JONES of Fort Dodge; Henry JONES, John JONES, Sherwood; Elmer JONES, Windom Minn.; and Emerson JONES, Early; one sister, Arzelda JONES, Saskatoon, Canada; 26 grandchildren and one great-grandchil
Mr. JONES was a member of the Methodist church. He had been in poor health and unable to work much of the time the past few years but undertook to work last . . . rest of obituary missing. . . .
