MASON CITY -- Dorothy M. RIGGINS, 81, of 630 Briarstone Drive, died Wednesday (December 17, 2008) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 North Adams Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Jon M. SEDA officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Dougherty.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.
Dorothy GIESKING was born Feb. 11, 1927, in Woden, the daughter of Ernest and Emma (SCHMIDT) GIESKING. She graduated from Woden High School and Mason City Beauty School. Dorothy owned her own business, The Beauty Nook, in Mason City.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Edmund C. RIGGINS in 1954; to this union a daughter was born.
Dorothy enjoyed reading, watching TV, shopping and camping. She loved spending time with her family, especially talking trips to see here sisters and brother in Webster City and Kansas City.
Dorothy enjoyed dinners with her close friends, Ida and Marlin RHINE. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Dorothy is survived by her sisters, Birdella TALTY, Overland Park, Kan., Melinda (Mike) HOGAN, Webster City; and brother, James (Nancy) GIESKING, North Liberty; brother-in-law, Ronald RIGGINS, Stevens Point, Wis.; along with many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Emma SCHMIDT (sic); husband, Edmund RIGGINS and daughter Sue RIGGINS.
