February, 2010Mason CITY -- Wava L. CHRISTENSEN, 101, of Mason City died Sunday (Jan. 31, 2010) at Good Shepherd Heath Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Keith SCOTT of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at Major Erickson Funeral Home.
Memorials may be directed to the Wava CHRISTENSEN Memorial Fund.
Wava was born June 30, 1908, in Kingsley, Kan., the daughter of Samuel N. and Nettie E. (TRIBILCOCK) PINE. She graduated from Mason City High School. Wava married Clifford CHRISTENSEN on March 30, 1927, in Mason City. She was a member of the VH Club and the Birthday Club.
Wava ejoyed spending time with hter grandchildren, camping, fishing, quilting, crocheting, tending to her flower garden and being outdoors. Wava was the "Boss."
Wava is survived by her children, Kenneth CHRISTENSEN and wife, Nancy, of Mason City, and Janice BERGAN of Mason City; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ivan PINE of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clifford in 1982; one son, Duane CHRISTENSEN; one daughter, Beverly OLSEN; one sister, Rita CHRISTENSEN; one brother, Merle PINE; and two sons-in-law, Richard BERGAN and Lynn OLSEN.
