DEATH OF CHARLES CARPENTER

In the early hours of the morning on Tuesday Charles Perry CARPENTER, only son of E. P. [Eugene Perry & Minnie (ELCE)] CARPENTER, sank into a peaceful repose, the sand of life running its course, and entered the abode of the life Beyond.

Charles was born on June 6, 1889, aged 31 years, 23 days. He was reared on a farm near Clear lake. Three years ago he enlisted in the army and while at the front on the battlefields of France he was a victim of the German gas, which later caused tuberculosis and his demise.

He graduated in Animal Husbandry at Ames [now Iowa State University], and had bright prospects for the future until the insidious disease crept into his system.

He was a young man of good ability, moral and industrious character. During his long illness he was always cheerful and resigned to his condition.

A father and two sisters are left to mourn his loss.

Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon from the M.E. church at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. F. S. JORY, interment in the Clear Lake Cemetery.
