Saturday, March 20, 2004JOICE — Lois Kathlein WROTEN, 72, of Joice, died Tuesday [March 16, 2004] at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.
A prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 E. Main St. in Lake Mills with the Rev. Kevin MACKEY officiating. Following cremation, inurnment will take place at a later date.
Lois Kathlein WROTEN (McHOSE, WRIGHT) was born Genivieve WRIGHT in Canastota, N.Y., on April 22, 1931, to Benjamin and Effie Belle WRIGHT, the youngest of 11 children. When she was still an infant, the children were put on an orphan train to the Midwest. She was adopted by Della (DUECHER) and Roscoe McHOSE.
On April 25, 1954, she married Harold Eugene Wroten and they had three children, Kathlein Elizabeth, Tomas Eugene and Robert WILKINS, a step-son.
Her favorite pastimes were quilting, research on the graveyards of Rhode Island and the genealogy of her family history.
She was a very strong-willed woman and was a pillar of strength for the family when they needed her.
She worked many years as a LPN, waitress and in the food industry.
When she wasn't quilting or researching, she enjoyed shopping with her best friend, Sandy ABRAHAM, at Wal-Mart and Fareway.
She spent the days before her death at home with her family. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, March 16, 2004, at her home in Joice.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathlein Elizabeth and husband, Wade ABRAHAM Jr. of Joice; her son Tomas Eugene of Maryville, Calif., and son, Robert WILKINS of New York; her grandson, Christopher David BARBER and his wife, Virginia; their children, Erik Michael Scott Perry, Dustin August Perry, Heather Dawn Leslie; granddaughter, Hollie Annette (BARBER) Vrieze and her husband, Daniel Harry VRIEZE, and their daughter, Jessica Lynn; grandson, Fallon Tomas WROTEN of Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Effie Belle WRIGHT and Benjamin WRIGHT; her adopted parents, Della (DUECHER) McHOSE and Roscoe McHOSE; husband, Harold Eugene WROTEN; granddaughter, Christina Lynn BARBER; brothers, Harry, Oliver and Marshall; sisters, Hattie, Gretta, Eunice and Ruth.
She will be dearly missed by all of us, including many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
