Obituary - Joseph W. Rankin
Joseph W. RANKIN, 68, died early Thursday morning at Mason City Hospital following a short illness. He had been a life long resident of Rockwell.
Mr. RANKIN was born October 26, 1887 on a farm near Rockwell, son of James and Bridgit HARLEY RANKIN. He was employed by the M & St. L. railroad.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Rockwell and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Mason City Council, the Holy Name Society at Sacred Heart, and the Order of Railroad Telegraphers.
Surviving are a brother Samuel RANKIN, Rockwell, and a number of cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
Requiem high Mass was celebrated Saturday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rockwell. Father Raymond S. BOHNER was the celebrant. Altar boys were Pat CALLAGHAN, Robert CAHILL, John CAHILL, and James ROTTINGHAUS. The Sacred Heart Girls Choir sang the Mass. Sister Mary Daniella was organist. Pallbearers were John CAHILL, Emmet CAMPBELL, Martin TRESTON, Gover LEWIS, Ed SCHOLL, and Henry McGAHERAN. Leo McLAUGHLIN was usher.
Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Dougherty. The Patterson-James Funeral Home was in charge.
