Obituary - Leo Francis O'Connor

Leo Francis O'CONNOR, 77, of 23654 150th St., died Tuesday [Dec. 22, 2009] at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 410 Patrick St., Dougherty, with the Rev. James Dubert and the Rev. John O'CONNOR officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Dougherty. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the St. Patrick's School, Dougherty, where a rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Leo F. O'CONNOR Memorial Fund.

Leo Francis O'Connor was born Feb. 7, 1932, the son of Everett and Mary Bertha (MERFELD) O'CONNOR. He graduated from St. Patrick's Catholic High School in 1950.

Leo was united in marriage to Ruth SCHWENNEKER on Nov. 28, 1953. To this union, six children were born. Leo farmed with his family until he began driving truck for Stockberger Trucking and Norseman Trucking. He drove truck for several years retiring from H&W Trucking in 1997. Leo continued to drive truck after retirement for the Cartersville Elevator.

Leo enjoyed fishing, including trips to Canada, socializing and cruising around with Lady. He loved spending time with family and friends. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Leo is survived by his wife, Ruth O'CONNOR, Dougherty; children: Dennis (Amie) O'CONNOR, Denver, Colo., Donna (Doug) SIEMS, Sheffield, Danette HOLCOMB, Olympia, Wash., David (Kim) O'CONNOR, Sheffield, Douglas (Noelle) O'CONNOR, Huntsville, Ala., Donald (Carol) O'CONNOR, Dumont; grandchildren: Jodi SIEMS, Shea (Robert) JENSEN, Christina HOLCOMB, Matt HOLCOMB, Andrew O'CONNOR and fiancee, Carrie, Kyle, Zach, Jackie, and Sean O'CONNOR, Joey HUBKA, Cody BRUNSTEIN, Dustin BRUNSTEIN, Nick PRAUSE; great-grandchildren: Aiden HUBKA and Kylen O'CONNOR; three brothers, the Rev. John O'CONNOR, Donald (Jan) O'CONNOR, Edward (Marilyn) O'CONNOR; brother-in-law, Ronald (Evelyn) SCHWENNEKER; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Leo is preceded in death by his parents, Everett O'CONNOR and Mary Bertha (Frank "Bud") TIENAN, and one granddaughter, Samantha O'CONNOR.
