Long Time Resident of Burchinal, N. P. HARRIS, Dies Here

Newton P. HARRIS, retired Burchinal farmer, died at a local hospital Monday. Mr. HARRIS, who was born in Beekmantown, N.Y., Sept. 21, 1844, had lived in Burchinal for 48 years.

He leaves one daughter, Flora HARRIS of Burchinal, to mourn his loss. Funeral services wil be held at the Burchinal Methodist church Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The Rev. Carrie V. A. LUCAS will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Beldon WELKEL. Burial will be made at the Mount Vernon Cemetery. The body will lie in state here at the Patterson funeral home until Thursday.

NOTE: Newton Pomeroy HARRIS was a Civil War Veteran, service as a Corporal with the 118th New York Infantry, Company H. He enlisted at age 19 years as a Private on July 29, 1862, promoted to Corporal on Junle 13, 1865 at Richmond, Virginia.
