October 11, 1990Anchorage resident David A. BRUE, 54, a fur store manager, died Oct. 7 [1990] in Anchorage of a heart attack. A service was held at Ward Van Slyke Funeral Home in Clear Lake, Iowa. A wake was held Oct. 19 at the American Legion Post 28 in Anchorage.
Mr. BRUE was born Oct. 19, 1935, in Clear Lake, Iowa. He attended Fertile High School. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy. He came to Alaska in October 1986. He was general manager and owner of Mid-America Harvestores in Kansas for many years. He was general manager of Super Lamb retail store in Anchorage.
Mr. BRUE was a member of First Baptist Church in Salina, Kan. He was very active in the American Legion Spenard Post 28 and was currently serving as their adjutant. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
According to his family, he loved hunting and fishing. The family made the following statements: "He was always active in the service clubs in Alaska. His heart was always deeply involved in his country, God and service to his fellow man."
He is survived by his wife, Lynn of Anchorage; his parents, Stanley and Erma, of Fertile; his sons, Dave of Minneapolis, and Mike of Grand Forks, N.D.; his daughters, Angela and Bridget, both of Gilbert, Ariz.; his step-son, Kevin Van WIE and his step-daughter, Kristin Van WIE, both of Anchorage.
Burial was in the Grant Center Cemetery in Clear Lake, Iowa.
