Obituary - Vivian Pearl (Dahlstrom) Patton Bennett
Vivian Pearl BENNETT, 96, of Mason City, died Thursday, December 18, 2008, at the Heritage Care Center in Mason City.
A graveside service for Vivian will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Hwy 122 West, Mason City, with Reverend Tom HEALEY officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Monday at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126-3rd Street NE, Mason City.
Vivian Pearl BENNETT was born on February 15, 1912, in Clayton County, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Eva (PIERCE) DAHLSTROM. She attended and received her education in the rural Clayton County school system. She was united in marriage to Claude PATTON in 1929, in Clear Lake; he preceded her in death in 1937. She was united in marriage to Barron BENNETT in 1938 in Albert Lea, MN; he preceded her in death in 1985.
Vivian worked as a waitress in the Do-Drop-Inn Restaurant in Mason City, and also worked for Woolworth's Store; and in the kitchen at the Elk's Lodge in Mason City.
She enjoyed baking, working in her yard, Trout fishing, camping, traveling, and gardening.
Those that are left to cherish her memory are her two daughters; Peggy (Jerry) FISHER of Newark, Ohio, and Rose McCLEMONS of Mason City; eight grandchildren: Dan (Carol) McCLEMONS of Mason City, Cherie McCLEMONS and special friend Jesse PIERCE of Mason City, Mitchell (Liz) FISHER of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Douglas (Debbie) FISHER of Woosher, Ohio, Vicki (Chris) AVERY of Grandville, Ohio, Ricky (Jackie) PATTON of Mason City, Ronnie (Marci) PATTON, and Randy (Jane) PATTON of Golden, Colorado; 16 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren; and her sister; Avis (George) REINSMOEN of Mason City, as well as other extended family members and friends.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Claude PATTON and Barron BENNETT; her son, Jim PATTON; two brothers, Melvin and Ralph DAHLSTROM; her sister, Dorothy RASMUSSON; a daughter-in-law, Ilene PATTON; and a son-in-law, Kenneth McCLEMONS.
