DAVENPORT, THAYER, MURSICK, SMITH

MASON CITY — Ralph R. Davenport, 65, 617 S. Grant, died Monday (May 20, 1985) at a Mason City hospital.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St John's Episcopal Church, 120 1st NE, Mason City, with the Rev. James F. Norton, rector of St. John's Episcopal Church officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, with Masonic Graveside Services at 1 p.m. by Harding Lodge 649 AF & AM.

Mr. Davenport was born July 21, 1919 at Geneva to Frank E and Frances L. (Thayer) Davenport. He graduated from Geneva High School in 1937 and attended aeronautical school in Trenton, NJ. He was employed by E.R.C.O. Corp. where he installed and tested gun turrets on the Liberator Bomber for the Navy during World War II.

He married Judy Mursick on July 21,1943 at Davidsonville, Md. In 1947, they moved to Mason City, where he worked for Interstate power Co. He served as Consumer Service coordinator until his retirement in August 1984.

He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and former Senior Warden, was a member of the Mason City Noon Lions Club, member and past master Harding Lodge 649 AF & AM, 32 degree Mason, member of the Cedar Rapids Consistory.

Cremation was held. The family requests that memorials be given to St John's Episcopal Church or the Salvation Army. Major Erickson Funeral Home 209 2nd NE, is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Judy; one daughter, Mrs. Hilbert (Donna L.) Smith. Clarksville; one son, Petty Officer Richard W. Davenport, U.S. Coast Guard stationed to New Orleans; one brother, Frank T. (Bud) Davenport; one granddaughter, Holley E. Smith, Clarksville.
