Ill Health Causes Cedar Falls Man's Suicide by Gas; Cedar Falls, Feb 2--Despondency over ill health of long standing is believed by relatives to have caused the suicide of Chris Nelson, 70, who died by inhaling gas in the kitchen of his home at 1318 State street Thursday afternoon. The body was found by his wife about 6 p.m. on her return to the house after attending a meeting of a church organization. Nelson came here several years ago from Cerro Gordo county. He participated in the old fiddlers contest given Wednesday evening as a benefit for the Knights of Pythias lodge. Surviving are the widow and four children: Mrs. Serene Hutsall, New York City, now in Bermuda; Mrs. Albert Goodling, Ventura; Mrs. C. C. Clausen, Des Moines, and Christian Nelson, Lehigh, Neb.

I do not know why he was referred to as "Chris" in the obit. He at one time lived in Clear Lake.
