Raymond McLaughlin

DOUGHERTY- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patricks' Catholic Church, Dougherty, for Raymond McLaughlin, 80, of Dougherty, who died Thursday (March 8, 1990) at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Mason City, of natural causes.

The Rev Linus Raising will officiate and burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Dougherty.

Visitation is after 3 p.m. today at St. Patrick's Catholic Church School, Dougherty, where a fourth-degree Knights of Columbus Rosary will be said at 7 tonight, followed by a Scriptural wake at 7:30 p.m.

Mr. McLaughlin was born Feb. 20, 1910, at Rockwell, to Anthony and Martha (Washington) McLaughlin. He attended rural Rockwell schools and married Josephine Cunningham on April 24, 1934, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dougherty. He had farmed in rural Dougherty all his life.

Mr. McLaughlin was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending sporting events. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dougherty, and the Dougherty Senior Citizens. He was also a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1006, Mason City.

Survivors include his wife, Josephine, Dougherty; one daughter, Mary Joan "Joanie" McLaughlin, Dougherty; three sons, James, Mason City, and Joseph and John both of Rockewll; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Esther Wike, Mason City, and Ida Wike, Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, Mason City is handling the arrangements.
