Sherren M. Paine

SHEFFIELD-Sherren M. Paine, 63, formerly of Owattona, Minn., died Tuesday (April 1, 2003) at Mercy Medical Center-North, Iowa, Mason City.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Sheffield Care Center in Sheffield. Following the memorial serivce, the family gathered at the Sheffield Care Center for refreshments and the sharing of memories of Sherren's life.

Sherren was born Oct. 16, 1939, in Mason City, to Roger and Irene (Barker) Massee. She was a member of the graduating class of Mason City High School in 1957. She married Bill Paine in 1966.

Throughout her life, she worked various jobs. She was employed at Rockford Nursing Home, Libby Owens Ford Glass Co., and Wellborn Industries in Mason City. For several years, she managed a restaurant in Rockford. Her hobbies included gardening, woodcarving and sewing and when she was younger, she enjoyed dancing with her husband.

Sherren is survived by her parents, Roger and Irene Massee, who reside at the Sheffield Care center in Sheffield; seven daughters, Sandra Knipfel of Clarion; Starla and Bill Silvey of Greene, Janice and Dennis Earnst of Jackson, Minn., Lorri and Richard Waters of Owatonna, Minn., Nancy and Denney Stewart of Hampton, Tammy and Rusty Miller of Rockwell, and Billie Jo and John Dow of Boone; two sons, Ronald and Diana Paine and Charles Paine, all of Hampton; 27 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, in 1995, two sons, Ted in 1971 and Michael in 1968, and one brother.
