Obituary of Sarah Forbes (HILL) Wise

Mason City Globe Gazette; March 1984

Mason City – Mrs. Sarah Wise, 85, of 1313 South Carolina, a long time Mason City and area resident, died Wednesday (March 14, 1984) at her home.

Funeral services will be 1:30pm Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church, Mason City, with the Rev. Walter Beckwith officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Township Cemetery, Titonka, IA.

Visitation is from 2-9pm today at Patterson-James Sellergren Funeral Home, Mason City, and from 9:30am Saturday until time of service at the church.

The family requests memorials be given to Wesley United Methodist Church.

She was born August 1, 1898 at Paloia, IN, to Henry and Elizabeth Hill. She married Strother Wise on March 10, 1917, in Bloomington, IL. They came to North Iowa at that time and farmed in the Titonka area before moving to Mason City.

Mrs. Wise was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

She is survived by six daughters - Mrs. Cecil (Mary) Shreckengost, Mrs. Richard (Lucille) Estal and Mrs. Iva Flynn all of Mason City; Mrs. Oscar (Helen) Ayres, Burlington, Mrs. Ralph (Bonnie) Lease, Iowa Falls and Mrs. Tad (Sarah) Price, Fort Meyers, FL; two sons Strother (Bud), Las Vegas, NV; and G.B.; 30 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren.
