MRS. LONG SERVICE SET FOR MONDAY
Genevieve S. Long, 83, died Friday at her home, 213 5th N.W., after a lingering illness. She had lived in Mason City many years, coming here as a child with her parents from Rockford, Ill.
Mrs. Long was born Oct., 16, 1872, at Rockford, Ill. She was graduated from Mason City High School in 1890 and was married to A. Lee Long in 1896 in Mason, City.
She was a charter member of the First Christian Church of Mason City and was a member of the PEO and the Matinee Musicale. She was active in church work and music circles throughtout her life and was director of the choir at the First Christian Church many years.
Surviving are tow daughters, Mrs. Arthur K. Walling, Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Martha Prazak, Sacramento, Calif.; a son, Arthur L. Long, Sacramento, Calif., and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, A. Lee Long, and by one daughter, Mrs. V.M. Connelly.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Major Memorial Chapel. The Rev. C. W. Hicks, retired minister, will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel from 2 p.m. Sunday until the time of services.
AUG 1956 - I received the clipping from the Elmwood Cem., Mason City, IA; don't have name of publication it was in. Genevieve's maiden name was STRICKLAND. Her parents were William J. and Martha BARRETT Strickland.
