Mary Ellen Shepherd rites set

Requiem high Mass will be celebrated for Mary Ellen Shepherd, 85, at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Family Catholic Church, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. A.J. Breen will be celebrant.

Mrs. Shepherd, widow of Leonard Shepherd died Saturday at a Mason City nursing home. She had lived in this community 54 years and made her home at 730 10th NE.

Born May 26, 1880, at Masonville, she was the daugher of Joseph and Mary Ann (Ryan) Taylor. She was married to Leonard Shepherd, Feb. 10, 1907 at Lawler.

Mrs. Shepherd was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Surviving are a son, Lewell Shepherd, Mason City; and two sisters, Mrs. J.B. (Lillian) Buller, St. Joseph, Mo., and Agnes Johnston, St. Paul, Minn. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1963 and by a son, Merle, two brothers and a sister.

Pallbearers selected are Fred Wolkenhauer, Robert G. Harrer, John E. O'Banion, Martin (Pat) Carroll, Philip McGinn and Robert R. Johnston.

Burial wil be in the St. Joseph section of Elmwood Cemetery. Parish Rosary has been schedulted for 8 p.m. Monday at the Patterson-James Chapel. Friends may call at the chapel until 10 a.m. Tuesday.
