91st Birthday Celebrated by Thornton's Oldest Resident

Mrs. Hester Blewett Still Takes Part in Civic, Church Activities

THORNTON -- Mrs. Hester Blewett, Thornton's oldest resident, celebrated her 91st birthday here Monday when a group of relatives and friends gathered at her home.
Mrs. Blewett came to this community as a bride, settling on a farm southeast of Meservey, which farm has been the home of her son, Harold, and his family for the past 30 years.

Despite her years, Mrs. Blewett takes an active part in civic and church activities. She also has a keen interest in current events. Her family consists of two sons and a daugther, Harold of Meservey, Hartley of Charles City, and Mrs. Alfred [Laura Elizabeth] Ingebretson of Thornton.

Transcriber's Note: Hester Ann was born January 5, 1851, the daughter of John and Caroline (Bawden) Combellick of Jo Daviess County, Illinois. She married Thomas Blewett on April 4, 1977.
