Funeral services for Neil H. Carstensen, 82, Tipton, were held June 76, 1988 at the First United Church of Christ in Tipton with the Rev. Robert Molsberry officiating. Schelley Odeen was the vocalist and Joyce Eilers was the organist. Pallbearers were Harold Syring, Donald Hipple, Larry Hodgden, Ron Lamp, Don Lamp and Keith Lamp. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.
Mr. Carstensen died June 3 at his home in Tipton following an extended illness.
The son of George and Emma Messner Carstensen, he was born Nov. 11, 1905 in Tipton. He attended the Riceville schools, graduating in 1924. He married Leola Lamp Nov. 22, 1935 in Davenport. He was a retired farmer and worked for the city.
Mr. Carstensen lived in Riceville for 16 years and Tipton for the past 66. He was a member of the Moose Lodge.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Gloria Smith, Birmingham, Ia.; 2 sons, Neil E. Carstensen, Mercersberg, Penn. and LaVerne Carstensen, Robins; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Mrs. Blanche France, Salem, Ore.; Mrs. Margaret Shields, Cresco; Mildred Carstensen and Marjorie Carstensen, Tipton and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, 3 brothers and a sister.
