Funeral services for Elmer C. Langmann, former Durant mayor and councilman, were held at St. Paul's Episcopal church, Durant, May 20 with the Rev. Peter Sickels officiating. Pallbearers were Robert and Tim Reimers, Wayne Lincoln, Delmar Frick, Charles Lilienthal, Henry Hagge, Oliver Hansen and Gilbert Meinert. Burial was in the Durant cemetery. James Ayers was vocalist.
Mr. Langmann died at the Wilton Nursing Home May 17.
The son of Benhard and Alvina Schneckloth Langmann, he was born at Bennett June 28, 1900. He married Hazel Drummond at Davenport Jan. 26, 1927.
For 30 years he worked as a salesman and bookkeeper for Schiele Chevrolet and then Henderson Chevrolet. During World War II he was employed by J. I. Case for 5 years. He retired as bus supervisor for the Durant schools in 1973.
Mr. Langmann served as mayor of Durant from 1950 to 1952. He was on the Durant city council 3 times, from 1934 to 1946, 1954 to 1956 and 1962 to 1964. He also served on the Durant Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years.
Mr. Langmann is survived by his wife; a son, Dale, Durant; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother.
