Funeral services for Ezra J. Wenndt, 82, were held at Zion Lutheran church, Wyoming Feb 16 with the Rev. Gregory Hanneman officiating. Burial was in the Wyoming cemetery. Pallbearers were Dennis Hasenbank, Allen Wenndt, Gary, Eugene and Rick Brunscheen and Terry Kroemer.
Mr. Wenndt died as a result of injuries received in a 2 car accident near Marion Feb. 12 in which his wife, Leona, was seriously injured.
The son of August and Dorothea Meier Wenndt, he was born at Clarence July 6, 1905 and attended the rural schools of the area. He was married to Leona Brunscheen at the Lutheran parsonage in Wyoming Dec. 20, 1933. The couple farmed in Cedar county until moving to a farm south of Wyoming, purchased in 1946. He and Mrs. Wenndt retired in 1970 and moved to Wyoming.
Mr. Wenndt was a member of Zion Lutheran church and the Zion Lutheran Men's Brotherhood. He had been a member of the Jones County Extension board, the Jones County Beef Producers, the Jones County Central Park association, the Wyoming Fair board, the Wyoming Ambulance association, the Hawkeye Angus association, the Beefland Angus association, the American Purebred Angus association, the Wyoming Housing corporation, the Wyoming city council, the Jones county Jets Bus system and the Jones County Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his wife; 3 sons, Verlyn, Anoka, Minn. and Duane and Larry, Wyoming; 6 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Fred (Norma) Pieper, Lowden and Mrs. Raymond (Irene) Hasenbank, Clarence; a brother, Herbert, Clarence and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
