Funeral services for Raymond (Peanuts) Woods, 80, were held at the Lacock Funeral home, Wilton, May 7 with the Rev. David Lawson officiating. Burial was in Pioneer cemetery at Big Rock. Pallbearers were Dennis and Christopher Woods, Jason Reading and LeRoy, Jack and Gerald Bauer.

Mr. Woods died at Mercy hospital, Davenport, May 5.

The son of Albert and Minnie Dohrman Woods, he was born at Davenport July 19, 1907. He married Vernetta Makoben in Davenport Aug. 15, 1936. Prior to his retirement, he was employed in the experimental paint department of the East Moline plant of International Harvester.

A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion and VFW at Durant and the Durant Senior Citizens. He entered military service Feb. 12, 1943 and was discharged Oct. 18, 1945. He served overseas, from Aug. 21, 1943 to Oct.7, 1945, in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater of operations. A member of the 703rd Engineer Detachment, he took part in the Rone-Arno and Northern Apennines campaigns.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Dennis, Bettendorf; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Dianne) Garner, Nunnelly, Tenn.; 6 grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Merlin (Delphia) Bauer, Bennett. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and a sister.
