Funeral services for Mrs. Marion (Thelma E.) Hamiel, 87, were held at the First United Methodist church Jan. 30 with Dr. Jerrold Swinton officiating. Sylvia Gould was organist. Mrs. Hamiel's body has been cremated. Burial in the Tipton Masonic cemetery will take place at a later date.

Mrs. Hamiel died at Cedar Manor Jan. 25.

The daughter of Reuben H. and Estella M. Cox Davis, she was born in Marshall county Jan. 5, 1901. She taught in the rural schools of Kossuth county in 1920-21 and in the elementary school at Buffalo Center in 1923-24. She was married to Marion C. Hamiel at Buffalo Center June 4, 1924.

A resident of Tipton since 1924, she was a librarian in the Tipton Public library and then taught the 4th grade in the Tipton schools from 1955 until she retired in 1967. She received a BA degree from the University of Iowa in 1958.

She was a member of First United Methodist church, PEO, Searchlight club, the Methodist Women and the Legion Auxiliary.

Mrs. Hamiel is survived by 2 sons, Keith and Norman, Tipton; 2 daughters, Eleanor Van Nostrand, Cantril and Carol Berrier, Arlington Heights, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Bertha Eichorn and Jessie Rosenau, Blue Earth, Minn. and a brother, Charles W. Davis, Fairbanks, Alaska.

She was preceded in death by her husband and 4 sisters.
