Funeral services for Paul G. Coulter, 85, retired farmer, were held at the West Branch United Methodist church Dec. 7 with the Rev. Samuel Hahn officiating. Burial was at Oasis cemetery.
Mr. Coulter died at his home at West Branch Dec. 6.
The son of Elmer E. and Ida M. Hunter Coulter, he was born in Johnson county Dec. 5, 1902. He was married to Eva Diers in Fairfield in 1932.
He attended the Iowa City schools and Iowa State University, taking courses in animal husbandry and veterinary science. He retired from farming and moved to West Branch in 1982.
Mr. Coulter received a gold medal for horsemanship in 1921.
He was a member of the United Methodist church, where he taught Sunday school for several years and a member of Wapsinonoc Lodge AF&AM. In 1929 he became the first associate patron of Juanita chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as worthy patron in 1930.
He is survived by his wife, 2 sons, Dr. Dwight B., Athens, Ga. and Donald P., Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Elva Gartzke, Tucson, Ariz. and 4 grandchildren.
