Last rites for Ronald J. Luikart, 65, Tipton businessman, were held at the First United Methodist church Nov. 30 with Dr. Jerrold Swinton officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. Pallbearers were Elmer Flory, Wayne Biggs, Lee Johnson, LaVerne Doermann, Austin Ford and A. S. Petersen. Nancy Hipple was vocalist and Patty Niehaus organist. An Odd Fellows service was held Nov. 29.

Mr. Luikart died at his home in Tipton Nov. 26.

The son of James S. and Mildred Biggs Luikart, he was born at Tipton Jan. 14, 1922 and graduated from Tipton high school in 1940. He began working for A. S. Petersen in 1965 and he and Elmer Flory purchased Petersen Hardware from Mr. Petersen in 1973. Before entering the hardware business he worked for the Tipton street department.

He was married to Vivian L. Hayes June 6, 1943. She preceded him in death.

Mr. Luikart spent his life in Tipton. He was a 40 year member of the International Order of the Odd Fellows and had been treasurer at First United Methodist church for 20 years. He had also been a district manager for the Quad City Times for more than 20 years and served as treasurer of the Cedar Valley Avon Collections club.

He was a member of First United Methodist church.

He is survived by a daughter, Brenda Pruess, Tipton; a son, Jim, Geneseo, Ill. and 2 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife.
