Funeral services for Roy E. Leighty, 76, were held at the Sheets & Son Funeral home Nov. 3 with Dr. Jerrold Swinton officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. Pallbearers were Leonard Hayslett, Tom Shaull, John Lange, Marvin Ford, Larry Martens and Fred Lamp. Honorary bearers were Bill Hendricks, Bill Penningroth and Donald Mitchel. Betty Trevathan was organist.

Mr. Leighty died at Mercy hospital, Cedar Rapids Oct. 31.

The son of Orville and Clara Wilt Leighty, he was born at Altoona, Penn. Nov. 11, 1910. He was educated in the Cedar Rapids Community schools. He was married to Genevieve Schwitzer at Rock Island, Ill. Oct. 3, 1932.

A trucker for 50 years, he had lived in Tipton for 60 years.

Mr. Leighty is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. August (LaDonna) Andresen, Fontana, Calif., 3 sons, Rus, Springdale; Bill, Tipton and Jerry, Anamosa; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, a sister and 2 brothers.
